Love Letters

Yesterday was a photo-less day.

I just couldn’t bring myself to take one of anything. Not that there wasn’t anything to take – quite the contrary. I received a beautiful card in the post – the actual real, physical post. It was from my Granna (that’s our special name for her) – and it stopped me in my tracks. Somehow I felt more connected than I had in a long time.  I put aside my phone and I didn’t turn on my laptop for the first time since I can remember.

My Granna is 97 years old.  The internet is a bit of a mystery to her. I can see her confusion when we sometimes skype with my parents – for her this technology is really new.  I’m not sure I can imagine what will be new for me if I ever live to be 97…. hover boards (back to the future style)? time travel?… who knows??

However, what I really hope for is that the simple old letter in the post doesn’t disappear. Her card won’t lose its value or importance and will be something that I will treasure for years to come.
